Carrollton Jail

The historic Carrollton Jail, also known as the Old Carroll County Jail, is a significant landmark in Carrollton, Mississippi. Constructed in 1905 by the Pauly Jail Building Company, this jail was designed with advanced security features for its time. It includes living quarters for the jailer and his family, communal cells, private cells, and a distinctive “cell within a cell” designed for extra security.

The jail reflects the early 20th-century architectural style and served the county’s needs for many decades. Its construction marked an important development in the region, highlighting both the architectural and penal history of Carroll County. Today, the historic jail is recognized for its cultural and historical importance and is a part of the region’s heritage tourism.
