Maben

The abandoned school in Maben, Mississippi, known as the former Maben High School, has a rich history as an educational institution that served the local community for many years. Originally a school for black students before integration in 1970, it later became part of West Oktibbeha County High School following the consolidation with Sturgis High School. The school continued to operate until 2015 when the Oktibbeha County School District merged with the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District, leading to the abandonment of the Maben site in 2016. Recently, there have been discussions to repurpose the campus, with East Mississippi Community College considering opening a branch to provide workforce training and college courses, aiming to enhance community resources and opportunities.
